Sonnet 60
What love I gave to you, I'll always keep,
Despite this epic being at its end,
For now my love to you, I put to sleep
To you allow in joy your days to spend.
I took too much and gave too much
And I confused you by my love's excess;
And actions which I took were actions such
That you did value me at ever less.
I'll not forget the amber of your eyes
And nor your berry-scented autumn hair;
And how could I your brightest smile despise
Which you with easy comfort often wear?
Let stand my love in this last elegy
For I have given up my fight for thee.
